Obituary
Ann was the youngest of four children to Eric and Dorothy Hutchinson. She was predeceased by her brother James and sisters Ruth and Sylvia. She was a loving wife to her forever friend, lover, and husband, Phil, who cared for her so well over 61 years of marriage. She enjoyed her three wonderful children Brian (Anne†), Kim (Dave Adamson), and Ian, her eight grandchildren, Leslie, Krista, Caitlin, Rikki, Brody, Daniel, Arianna and Mireya and her two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Everett. They all have her blessings! She will also be missed by her nieces, nephews and many friends.
Ann never met a stranger as she instantly became familiar and welcoming with all. Growing up in Dundas, Ann started as a Brownie and continued on to Girl Guides, where she earned her Gold Cord. As a young adult, she started her community services by volunteering with the Brownies and several Girl Guide groups. She worked for two years as a primary school teacher and continued this interest in children and their education as a chess mentor in the school, an active member of the PTA, and furthered it into the community by spearheading the Block Parent Program in Waterdown. She also helped alongside her husband Phil with his dedication to the Air Cadets. She loved music, and sang in her own church choir as well as the Burlington Choral Society. She served as the PR person for the first Haunted House in Waterdown, working alongside Dorothy Moon. She was an active member of Grace Anglican Church in Waterdown where she served in many capacities including, Warden, Choir, Sunday School, Catering Committee, Altar Guild, Cemetery Board, as well as in many other ways which merited her the Order of Niagara. She also had a creative flair which was expressed most notably in her passion for gardening and painting, where she combined the two loves by painting botanicals, including a commissioned work of three pictures illustrating a continuing rose garden to frame a living room couch. Ann will most be remembered for her warm and caring hugs. You will be forever in our hearts.
To honour Ann’s life, friends may visit with the family from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday March 15, 2023 at BOBBY’S PLACE (in Grace Anglican Church), 157 Mill St. N., Waterdown, where a Memorial Service will take place the following day, Thursday March 16 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Bobby’s Place would be appreciated by the family.
