Cedric (Derek) Wild, our handsome and dynamic father, who was born on November 8, 1935, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2023. He is predeceased by his wife, Audrey, and sister Kathleen. He is survived by his daughters Alyson and Sharon and son Michael, grandchildren Justyn, Braedyn, Ryn and Taylor in Canada, along with his brother Colin and niece and nephew and grandnieces and nephews in England who adored him.
Cedric was born in Oldham, England in 1935. He was a very ambitious and intelligent man, gaining his Civil Engineering Degree before moving to South Africa to apprentice in bridge design. After emigrating to Canada, he served in the municipal traffic departments of both Vancouver and Victoria, becoming the head traffic engineer in Victoria for a few years. While there he attended UVic to obtain his MBA and was very proud of that. From there, he formed his own business specializing in what was then a ground-breaking field called accident reconstruction, representing ICBC or Lawyers as an expert witness in traffic accident court.
He loved his tennis, advancing quite far in tournaments at the Cowichan Lawn Tennis Club playing doubles. He also spent many hours watching his beloved Manchester United play soccer. Cedric had aspirations when he was young to be an architect and had quite an artistic bent. He actually remodeled the family home brilliantly to a Tuscany-villa style. Very talented man. Excellent provider. He will be missed.
