It is with great sadness that the family of the late Cecil Lockyer of Point au Gaul announce the passing of their beloved Husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Cecil passed away peacefully at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Wednesday, August 30th, 2023 at the age of 77.
He will be remembered for his huge smile, big heart and warm personality, and his immense love for his family, and his love for the outdoors. Cecil enjoyed spending time with his family and the time he spent up in the woods with his son and grandchildren. He would usually be found either cutting wood with his grandson, picking berries, planting vegetables in his garden, out hunting birds or spending time at his cabin. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his wife of 56 years, Caroline; his children, Wayne Lockyer (Kim) of Point au Gaul, Margaret Hannebury (Mark) of Paradise, Amanda Keats (Lorne) of Milton, Tracey Lockyer (Harvey Fitzpatrick of Mount Pearl; 7 grandchildren, Christopher, Brandon (Kristen), Amber, Caitlyn, Cody, Laura, Joshua; sisters, Melinda Benteau (Clem) and Rita Parsons (Peter); sister-in-law Bride Lockyer many nieces and nephew; plus a large circle of extended family and friends.
Cecil was predeceased by parents, Bridget and Joseph Lockyer; parents-in-law, Margaret & Cyril Savoury; grandchildren, Jordan Keats and Jacob Hannebury; siblings, Peter James Lockyer (Mary Ann), George Lockyer, Avelina Fitzpatrick (Peter), Philomena Stacey (Ted), Mercedes Haley (Bill).
In keeping with Cecil’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
The Lockyer Family will be accepting visitors at The Church of the Most Holy Rosary Point May, NL on Monday, September 4th, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at The Church of the Most Holy Rosary, Point May, NL on Tuesday, September 5th, 2023 at 12:00 noon.
In Cecil’s memory donations may be made to The Lockyer Family or flowers gratefully accepted.
