With deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Carla Lynn Snow, surrounded by her most cherished treasures, her beloved children on Saturday, June 3, 2023.
Carla was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and as a child, she experienced the adventure of moving with her parents before finding her true home in Port Hood. Raised by her loving grandparents, Theresa and Elmer Smith, Carla spent her formative years getting into mischief with her best friends and numerous cousins.
At the age of 19, Carla met her partner in life, and together they embarked on a journey filled with shared experiences. However, their path took an unexpected turn when Carla’s health declined. Over the past 25 years, she faced three cancer diagnoses with unwavering courage and determination. Throughout it all, her love for her two beautiful children remained constant, and she raised them with an abundance of love and admiration. The bond they shared with their mother was unbreakable.
When Carla’s husband’s work took him to Snow Lake, Manitoba, she fearlessly packed up her life and accompanied him, bringing along their two young children. Although they thought it would become their new stomping grounds, Carla eventually made the decision to return home, where she started working at the Port Hastings Post Office. As a clerk, Carla’s radiant smile became a beacon of warmth for all who entered. Her exceptional service and friendly nature endeared her to many, and her smile will forever be etched in their memories.
Carla dedicated many years of her life to her work at the post office until her cancer forced her to step away in 2010. Even in the face of multiple diagnoses, she fought with immense bravery and strength, overcoming every obstacle that came her way. Her unwavering determination was fueled by her love for her children, whom she always placed above all else.
Carla will forever be remembered as a strong, resilient, and remarkable woman. Her heart of gold, paired with her attentive ears, made her a source of strength and comfort for those around her. Carla’s spirit of adventure was infectious, and she never hesitated to say yes and join in on trips and spontaneous adventures. These shared experiences will be treasured forever, serving as a testament to the love and bond she shared with her children. As we grieve the loss of Carla, let us also celebrate the high spirit she embodied and the enduring legacy of love that she leaves behind. In addition to her beloved children, Dylan and Madison, she is survived by their loving partners, Molly O’Donnell and Evan MacNeil, whom she embraced as her own. Carla is also mourned by her wonderful mother, Alma Smith, her father, Hughie MacLean (Moira MacKeigan), her mother-in-law, Carmelita, sister-in-law Lisa MacIsaac, brother-in-law Ashley MacIsaac, and her dear friend, Sandi MacDonald, whose unwavering support was immeasurable over the years. Her absence will be profoundly felt by numerous friends and cousins.
Carla is predeceased by her grandparents, Theresa and Elmer Smith, Bell and John Dan MacLean, partner in life, Henry Snow, who eagerly awaited their reunion, as well as her best friends, Angus Macdonald and Robert Doiron. She is also mourned by her father-in-law, Angus MacIsaac, who cherished her as his own daughter, to say the least, a love like moms knew no bounds… she loved so greatly and so deeply.
There will be a private burial at a later date, as well as a celebration of life for our beautiful mom.
Special thank you to the wonderful care she received at the CBRH.
Bye for now our sweet mama, you will forever live on in our hearts.
