On August 28, 2023, Candice “Candy” Waskahat of Edmonton, formerly of Beaver Lake Cree Nation, passed away at the age of 47 years. She is survived by her children, Savannah, Owen Quintal, Connor & Cassandra “Cassie”; father of her children, Ryan Quintal; 2 grandchildren, Kairo & Miguel Sallenbach; siblings, Kelly & Amy Gladue; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins & dear friends. Candice was predeceased by her parents, Elmer & Sandra; dear friend & father of Cassandra, Steven Frenchman. A Wake will be held on Thursday, September 14 (leaving Grace Gardens at 10:00 a.m.) at Beaver Lake Multi-Purpose Building, Beaver Lake Cree Nation. A Pipe Ceremony & Funeral Service will be held on Friday morning, September 15 at Beaver Lake Multi-Purpose Building, Beaver Lake Cree Nation. Interment will take place on Friday, September 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Cemetery, Frog Lake First Nation, with Reverend Father Thomas Nguyen officiating.
