George Smith passed peacefully away at Josiah Squibb Pavillion, Carbonear, on January 15, 2024 with family and friends by his side, at the age of 91years.Lovingly remembered by his wife Joan of 70 years, son Leigh (Linda), Glenn (Lorrie), daughter-in-law the Reverend Marilyn Moore, sister-in-law the Reverend Evelyn Smith, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.Predeceased by parents Levi and Maggie, son Wayne, sister Martha, brother Leonard, Step brother William, step sisters Louisa, Gertrude and Lilli-Anne.George grew up in New Perlican, spent 31years in Sept-Iles, Quebec with Quebec Northshore and Labrador Railway. He retired to Heart’s Content in 1985 and enjoyed his home so near the water. He spent many hours fishing, hunting and watching the boats come and go. He also enjoyed being a member of the community. Many thanks to Dr. Leung, George’s personal care workers Joanne and Leona, the staff of the Pavillion, his many friends and relatives in Heart’s Content, New Perlican and Winterton and especially to Craig and Elsie Smith.Resting at St Mary’s Anglican Church ,Hts Content on Thursday January 18, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday January 19 at 2:00 pm,with interment to follow in St Mary’s Anglican Cemetery . Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Greens Funeral Home, Winterton.
