It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin Joesph Kavanagh at the age of 78, formerly of Calvert, on Sunday, January 21st, 2024 at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland surrounded by family.
Kevin was known as a pillar of his hometown of Calvert on the Southern Shore in his younger days. He thoroughly enjoyed his work life on the water fishing, and on the road delivering for Bernard Kavanagh. Kevin always enjoyed some good company, a good tune(especially from Brian Finn), conversation, and a feed of grub. Kevin lived a very full life and in turn, will be missed by all who loved him.
Kevin is predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Agnes(“Aggie”) Kavanagh; his brothers: Raymond, Larry and Arnold(Ann-Marie) Kavanagh; sister Millie(Raymond) Brake; and brother-in-law Raymond Crane.
He is survived by his children, Tina Collins (Rocky) of Chamberlains, Conception Bay South and Corey (Brooke) of Wasaga Beach, Ontario; grandchildren: Caitlin Kavanagh, Brianna Collins (Jon Tippett), Justin Collins, Brody Baker and Lucy Kavanagh; and great-grandchild: Jensen Kavanagh.
He is also survived by his sister, Eileen and brothers: Richard (Shirley), Aiden (Mary-Ellen), Eric (Irene), David (Eileen), Dermot (Florrie), Donald (Mary), Gerald (Sheila) and Loyola; also leaving numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.
Kevin loved a good game of cards, and his favorite pastime was playing crib with his buddies: Roy & Mary Eveleigh, Bob Adams, Jack Duffett, Randy Slaney, Les Bursey, Tom Gosine, Darryl Budgell, Barb Scurry, Jerry Collins, Jerome Tobin, Jim Roche, Cathy Connors, Frank Callahan and Fred Lyall. Have a hand in his memory!
Also, a special mention to his long-time friends John and Dave Denine. Thanks for always being there.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fahey’s Funeral Home. Inurnment and celebration of life to take place at a later date.
