Robert Joseph Quirke

Passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024 after a short illness, Robert Joseph Quirke of CBS (formally of St. Lawrence) in his 79th year. Predeceased by his treasured and loved daughter, Loretta, his parents John & Maryanne Quirke, Sisters, Rose(Bill) Clarke, Madeline (Leo) Lehman, Loretta, Betty(Ed Currie) Tina (Reg Bingman), Yvonne (Ed Currie), Brothers Henry (Verlie) Pat (Josephine), Eric, and John. In-Laws: Bill & Marie Cahill, niece Dawn Cahill, brothers in-law Richard O’Brien and Charles Bastink.
Leaving to mourn with special memories are his wife Johnena, special nephew Brian Clarke (Paula, Bill, Heide & Adam) and niece Yvonne Slaney (Tim, Sarah and Bryan and their families). Sister Ellen Wiggins, and sisters in law Cathy O’Brien, Ramona Bastink, Shelly Cahill and brothers-in-law Bill Cahill(Lorraine), Gerald Cahill (Agnesmarie) and Desmond Cahill (Su). Also a large number of nieces, nephews and cousins in Ontario, Montreal, and Newfoundland.
Robert was a very proud 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and past Grand Knight. He was also proud of his teaching career as Welding Instructor at CONA. He was always proud to say he was a St Lawrence Laurentian soccer player and a member of the Team of the Century as well as being inducted into the St. Lawrence Soccer Hall of Fame. He enjoyed his game of golf, especially when playing in his daughter’s Memorial tournament with his team mates, Ray, George, Brian, and his wife Johnena.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, May 24 at 10 a.m. at St. Edward’s Parish, Conception Bay South. Inurnment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations to Cystic Fibrosis Nfld. Chapter or Children’s Wish Foundation can be made in Bob’s Memory.
