Joseph (Joe) Patrick Edwards passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family on December 21st, 2024, aged 86 years. Joe leaves to mourn his wife of 63 years, Mary (Power), his daughter Mary Beth Ezekiel (Darrell), son James (Jimmy) and his partner Cathi Allison.
He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren Justin (Vickie, Felix and Bowie), Keegan (Kayla), Devin, Sydney and Sarah (Ryan). Joe also leaves to mourn his brother Ernest (Cecelia) and his brother Doug (Stella) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a large circle of friends, including the residents and staff at Littledale.
Joe has been predeceased by his father James Edwards and his mother Mary (Bloss) Connors, his siblings, Mona (Earl McDougal), Ray, Jim (Joan), Dell, Anne, and special nephew Paul Edwards. Joe was also predeceased by his in-laws Michael and Sarah Power (Baker), Dan Corbett, Jack Power, Alice (Cyril Mallard) and Ed Power.
Left to celebrate Joe’s life are his in-laws Howard Kearney, Richard Loder, Kathleen Power, Mike Power (Annie), Patricia Corbett and Arlene Power.
Joe enjoyed life to the fullest. He had a wonderful sense of humour and made friends wherever he went. If you knew the “Mayor of Parkhill Street” you had to love him. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
The family would like to thank the medical staff of the Health Sciences Centre (4 South B) and the first responders for their compassion and kindness under such difficult circumstances.
Cremation has taken place. The family will accept visitors at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to take place on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 1pm. from St. Theresa’s Church. Inurnment to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Joe’s memory to the Canadian Lung Association.
