In loving memory of Joan Cadigan (Nee Eastman), a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She brought warmth and joy into our lives and will be deeply missed. Joan passed peacefully on May 8, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and treasured memories. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years (Thomas), parents (Clayton and Olive Eastman), sister (Margaret), and brothers (Cyril, Clayton, Jim).
Leaving to mourn with loving memories are her daughters Beverley (Luis), Katrina (Andy), Rosalind (David); sons Sean (Bonnie), Noel (Tina); grandchildren Liam, Laura, Elizabeth, Margaret and Vivian Schroeder; sister Kitty; brothers Ed, Gordon, and Paul; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends.
Joan was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved taking care of her family. She especially enjoyed baking holiday cookies, cakes, and pies. Christmas held a special place in Joan’s heart. She delighted in decorating her house with every Santa imaginable and trimming the tree with cherished ornaments she received as gifts over the years. She remembered who gave her each ornament. Her Christmas turkey was legendary! Her spirit of giving and generosity shone brightly during this magical time of year, as she found joy in creating unforgettable memories with her loved ones.
A good game of 120’s brought out Joan’s competitive spirit and zest for life. Whether gathered around the kitchen table, with the Mount Pearl Seniors Group, or with her friends at Westbury, she relished the friendly banter and shared laughter that accompanied each round.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 7, from 2-4pm & 7-9pm. Inurnment will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, on Monday, July 8, 2024 at a time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of one’s choice will be graciously appreciated.
Though she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will forever live on in the memories we hold dear. May her love continue to guide us, and her light continue to shine bright in our hearts. We would like to thank the staff and friends of Westbury Estates for looking after our mom this past year, and to all those who have been a part of her life. She was one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
