Frederick Joseph Chafe
August 24, 1936 – April 8, 2024
It is with much sadness that we share the news that our husband, father and poppy, Frederick Joseph Chafe has passed.
Dad was born on 24 August 1936 – 3rd child of John and Hannah Chafe. He was hard working throughout his whole life and he was a force whether at work, at home with his family or with friends. To know him was to love him.
Leaving to mourn and to celebrate his life are his wife of 58 years, Marie Chafe (Brennan), his children Janet, Brian and Lois and his daughter in law Kara, as well as his pride and joy – Zachary, Joshua, Olivia, Thomas, Adam and Tori. Also mourning his passing is his only surviving and much beloved sister, Jenny O’Neill (Don, deceased) his sister in laws Marie Howlett, Barb Chafe, and Carmel Doody (Leo, deceased); his many nieces and nephews and friends, in particular his niece, Donna Davis (Mullaley) who has been his constant cheerleader for many years.
He was predeceased by many family and friends including his parents John and Hannah; his brothers Benedict, Ted, Johnny, Francis (Sylvia), and Harry; his sisters Betty, Lucille, and Marie; and his sister in law Regina (Stephen).
We are sure Dad is at the bar in Heaven with his brother, Ted sharing stories, having a few laughs and probably organizing a game of cards with the Skipper.
Dad had battled dementia for many years and as such, it was a slow march to the end. He did it his way and on his time which is how he lived his life.
Thank you to the staff at Pleasant View Towers for providing care to him since 2017 and to all who have visited, thought of him or sent well wishes and prayers.
Visitation will take place at Caul’s Funeral Home 84 LeMarchant Road on Wednesday April 10 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral Service will take place on Thursday April 11 at St. Teresa’s Parish at 9:30 a.m.
Interment will take place at a later date.
