A special thank you is extended to the staff of St. Clare’s – 4 West for the exceptional care provided to Dad and our family, during his final days. Also thank you to the staff of St. Mary’s Pharmacy, St. Mary’s Health Centre, the Health Science Centre, NL Health Ambulance Service and the former Gibbons’ Ambulance Service for all your care and support over the years and to Gibbons’ Funeral Home for your support during this difficult time.
Born on Oderin Island, Placentia Bay, in 1925, Dad served as lighthouse keeper for 25 years on Jude Island and Point La Haye lighthouses. He loved to play the guitar and sing and was a painter and modelist of small houses and fishing villages, and is especially well-known for the model village of Oderin harbour he constructed next to his house and visited by many tourists while on the drive into St. Mary’s.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, St. Mary’s, on Saturday, December 14, at 12:30pm, followed by a Funeral Mass at 2:00pm. A private burial will be held at a later time, however everyone is invited to follow along in a procession to Point La Haye lighthouse following Mass.
