Robin Jeannine Rodgers
Robin passed peacefully away on the evening of December 5th, 2023 in her 91st year at the Health Sciences Center. Raised in Green’s Harbour by parents Mabel (McKinlay) and Harold (Drover), Robin experienced an idyllic childhood; books, music and nature were an integral part of her daily life.
Upon completion of grade school, she moved to St. John’s to pursue training in the commercial-secretarial field, followed by employment at Fort Pepperrell Air Force Base.
Robin married her high school sweetheart Clem, a United Church minister, in 1958. Together they served several congregations throughout the province, with Robin facilitating as organist. Communities touched by their fellowship include Musgrave Harbour, Old Perlican, Corner Brook, Fortune and St. John’s. Upon the family’s move to St. John’s, Robin joined the Family Practice Unit at the Health Sciences Center, where she enjoyed many fulfilling years and an extensive professional network.
Far from a sedentary retirement, Robin remained very active and focused on her personal passions; most recently, with the restoration of her beloved childhood home in Green’s Harbour.
Robin was known for her joyful character, kindness, and loving devotion to her family. With her wonderful sense of humour, she embraced the company of family and friends, playing games of all sorts and of course, good old fashion home cooked meals. Left with troves of treasured memories are her three children, Christine, Paul and Jill (Eric), grandchildren Jasmine (Micheal), Adrienne (Matthew), Anthony and Cristian, as well as many dear friends and relatives.
We are thankful for the medical team who provided such skillful care over the past months. Special thanks to Barrett’s Funeral Home for their compassion and care.
A service of remembrance will take place on Tuesday, December 12th, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Barrett’s Funeral Home on Hamilton Avenue. We invite you to arrive shortly before the service to enjoy a presentation of Robin’s life in pictures.
