It is with broken hearts and gratitude for a lifetime of treasured memories that we announce the passing of Patrick (Rick) Kenny, of Mount Pearl (formerly of Fermeuse) on November 26, 2024. Rick passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Rick saw the value of sport in young people’s lives, and thoroughly enjoyed his many days spent at the hockey rinks and baseball fields in Mount Pearl, coaching and supporting his sons and their teammates. From the early morning practices to the late-night games, he was at home when behind the bench or in the stands.
Rick worked in the insurance industry for over 40 years and proudly held many positions with the CICMA. He enjoyed his work immensely and had great relationships with his colleagues, holding dear the many friendships that continued through his retirement.
Rick’s face lit up when his grandchildren walked into a room. He loved every minute spent with each of them. From trips up the shore to cruises and Disney World, he was happiest in their company.
In his retirement, he also truly enjoyed winters spent in Vista Pines, Florida, and the new friendships formed there.
His time in hospital was comforted by the many visits, phone calls, emails, messages, food deliveries, and well wishes from family and friends.
Thank you to the medical professionals of 5 South B and 4 North A of the Health Science Center, Dr Morkar and his team for their tremendous care and compassion over the past month.
Visitation will be held at Barretts Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl on Saturday, November 30th from 1-5 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral Service to take place at Our Lady Queen of Families Church (formerly St. Peter’s), 110 Ashford Drive, Mount Pearl on Monday, December 2nd at 10:30 AM.
A family burial will take place at a later date.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made to Cancer Care Foundation NL or a charity of one’s choice.
As you were you will always be, treasured forever in our memory.
