It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Marjorie Hynes (nee Hackett) of Marystown. Marjorie passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family at the US Memorial Health Centre in St. Lawrence on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at the age of 78.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her husband of 58 years George; sons Toby (Elsie), Todd (Janet), Jerry (Celesta); daughter Cathy (Colin); grandchildren Jonathan, Danielle, Jane, Julie, Victoria, Jenna, and Michael; plus a very large circle of extended family and friends.
Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, Jerome and Catherine Hackett; brothers Charlie and Clarence; and sister Pearl.
Marjorie was a woman of tremendous faith, heavily involved in the Roman Catholic Church and a member of the church choir for many years. She and George shared a commitment to helping others; collecting clothing for people in need and visiting & preparing meals for the sick, among many other things.
In later years, she and George became actively involved in many activities and organizations such as the Little Bay Heritage Dancers and the Seniors Club. Music and song have always been a big part of Marjorie’s life. She enjoyed dancing and singing alongside friends in local concerts and taught herself to play the guitar and the accordion.
Most of all Marjorie will be remembered as a dear wife, an amazing mother and grandmother, and a friend whose capacity for love was without limit. Marjorie’s and George’s circle of love has extended far beyond the confines of their home, and their door has always been open and welcoming to cousins, friends, and neighbors. Their home hasn’t been just a house… it’s been a beacon of warmth and acceptance.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Pauline White and also the staff of the US Memorial Health Centre for their exceptional care and support.
