It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of, John Patrick Fewer
(July 19, 1934 – January 20, 2024).
Predeceased by his son Celestine Fewer and sisters Dinah, Elizebeth, and Margaret. Brothers Peter and Edward. Parents Patrick and Caroline.
Leaving to mourn is his loving wife Loretta of 64 years, seven daughters, Debra (Ronald), Maureen (Chesley), Vivian (Kevin), Dale, Jacqueline (Raymond), Yvonne (Kevin), Janice (Jamie). Four Sons Jerome (Irene), Fabian, Roland, Dominic (Jo Ann). Also leaving to mourn are his 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. John also had a huge circle of family and friends.
John was known for his love of fishing and boat building. His time spent at Long Pond with Mom and his friends always created a funny story. From the lumber woods of Churchill Falls to the shipyard in Marystown, he worked hard to provide for his family. His love of music, especially the guitar and accordion always lit up the kitchen on Saturday afternoons. From Spanish Angels to Storms Never Last new words were made up and everyone joined in. He never shied away from hard work and commitment to his family.
He loved to spend days in his shed working on a boat when it was too poor to fish. He was forever checking the weather and was amazed by “Alexa” (although she couldn’t understand him). He loved to dance and the St. Gabriel’s Hall on a Saturday night with Loretta and friends was a ritual. He would say, “now if you are going with me get in the car” and then he would go wait in the car for Loretta to get ready. Playing cards and catching Mom cheating with hands sign to her partner, always created a stir and lots of laughs.
He has gone to join his son, friends and family, leaving behind his loving wife and respectful children who will all miss him dearly…..
The Fewer Family will be accepting visitors at Wiseman’s Funeral Homes, Marystown on
Wednesday, January 24th
1pm – 4pm
Funeral Service will be held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Marystown on Thursday, January 25th, 2024 at 10am. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Marystown.
In John’s memory, in-lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Diabetes Foundation.
