  1. The news of Brian’s passing comes with a mix of feelings. Sadness, astonishment, disbelief, even guilt. Somewhere along the way we move apart from the dearest friends we have had and raise our families and become part of larger networks of our own. It’s hard to stay in touch as we move on and life gets more complicated and challenging. It’s a sad fact. Nevertheless, old friends and the memories and times we shared are never forgotten. They made us who we are, and Brian was part of the mix that made me who I am. Brian and I had so many great times together, not just when we were growing up in St. Lawrence but also living together in St. John’s at Dorset Street, and later living close by in Mt. Pearl. There we escaped wives and kids for a few brief hours to take in the reggae bar, and how much did we enjoyed those times. I could go on for hours on the old days, but suffice it to say, Brian was one of the gang of about ten of us that hung out for years and had some wild and wonderful times. The nights ending with a feed where we’d be, as Brian would say, “blown up like harbour Tom cods.” It’s surreal just thinking Brian has passed on when I remember such vibrant and inspired times back in our halcyon days. It’s a hard pill to swallow knowing your oldest friends pass. So with deepest condolences I send this message to Brian’s family, his children, and to Ken, one of my oldest and dearest friends, whom I think about often. In sum, I can honestly and deeply say Brian was a good friend and a good soul. God bless you old friend, you’ll not be forgotten. Anthony J. Lambe.
