It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Brian Joseph “BJ” Drake, Jr. of St. Lawrence. Brian passed away in St. Lawrence on November 13, 2024 at the age of 37.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his absolute pride and joy, his 3 beloved children, Breea, Avery, and Brody and their mother, Holly. Mourning with them are Brian’s (BJ) family; mother, Lynn and stepfather Jim; father Brian and stepmother Ellen; brother, Brad (Judy); step brothers Chad (Sophie), Kevin (Nicole) and Darrell (Robin); step siblings, Amber (Clinton), Kyle (Brittany), Jeremy (Peggy); sister in law, Heather (Justin); parents in law, Edgar and Angela. His nieces and nephews lit up his world and will miss him terribly – special nephews and nieces; Brayden, Bryson, Giorgio, Adrianna, Gabi, Alyssa, Alana, Ellie, Marci, James, Lauren, Gia, and Drew. He will also be greatly missed by his aunts, uncles and cousins plus a large circle of friends.
Brian was predeceased by his grandparents, Helen and David Whalen; Bob and Eliza Fitzpatrick and his special Uncle George.
Brian was a beloved father, son, brother and a devoted friend to many. He dedicated his life to serving his community and others with unwavering compassion and a selfless heart. Whether in times of crisis or in everyday moments, Brian consistently put the needs of others before his own, leaving a lasting impact on those he touched.
A proud and passionate member of the St. Lawrence Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years, Brian was deeply cherished by his fire department family. His commitment to protecting and supporting his community was matched by his devotion to his career as a paramedic, where he provided care and comfort to countless individuals during their most challenging times.
Brian’s legacy of kindness and service will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. In his memory, we encourage everyone to cherish their loved ones and express gratitude to those who make a difference in the world. Let us all strive to embody the kindness and generosity that Brian so beautifully exemplified.
The Drake Family will be accepting visitors at St. Thomas Aquinas R.C. Church in St. Lawrence on:
Sunday, November 17th
6:00pm to 8:00pm
A funeral service will take place at St. Thomas Aquinas R.C. Church on:
Monday, November 18, 2024 at 11:00am
Brian will have his final ride on his beloved fire truck and inurnment to follow at Mount Cecilia R.C. Cemetery.
In Brian’s memory donations may be made to the family with a portion being donated to the St. Lawrence Volunteer Fire Dept and the Canadian Mental Health Association, Newfoundland and Labrador or flowers gratefully accepted.
