Betty (Walker) Hyatt passed away peacefully at home Saturday, October 21, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Aileen Miles, her siblings, Bill, Bobby and Carolyn, and two sons, James Darrell and Christopher Brian Black. Betty is survived by her husband, Ken Hyatt, her sister, Edna Faye Lawson, two sons, David and DeWayne Black, and stepchildren, Steve and David Walker, Shari Thorne (Hyatt), Kenneth W. and Brian Hyatt. Betty also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born on November 20, 1943, Betty lived life to the fullest. She spent much of her teenage years in Maryville before moving to Mascot where she began raising her family. Her greatest joy was her four sons and their families. From sports, scouting, church, school, holidays and birthdays, Betty was always involved and loved celebrating every moment with her family. Her love was felt by more than her immediate family as Betty also loved her friends deeply.
Betty loved quilting, crafting and cooking and she generously shared these talents with others. She loved hosting her family and friends, enjoyed watching UT sports, taking trips to Cades Cove, and cherished her many pets throughout the years.
The family thanks Amedisys Hospice for the care provided during these difficult months. And, to the day nurses who supported Betty, we appreciate the love and care you brought into the home each day.
The family will receive friends 12:30-2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Bridges Funeral Home followed by services at 2:00 PM with Reverend Brian Collins officiating. Family and friends will then proceed to New Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery for an interment.
