William Patrick Penney Obituary
Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loved ones at the Leonard A. Miller Centre on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024. Bill was born January 21st, 1962 and raised in Holyrood, NL. He was predeceased by his parents: Ethel and Ambrose Penney and his infant brother Joseph.
Bill will be forever loved and remembered by many but especially by his partner, Brenda Lush (son Bradley and granddaughter Leah); daughter Jillian (Steven) Butt, Jillian’s mom Marilyn Woodford, puppy Chloe; brothers: Fred (Patsy) Penney, Glenn (Sandra) Penney, Kevin (Barbara) Penney and Michael (Madonna) Penney, sisters: Anita (Jim) Lewis, Shirley (Geoff) Webster, Joan (Paul) Burns and Mabel (Walter) Murray.
Bill also leaves to mourn a large circle of nieces and nephews, dear close friends that he and Brenda had in their social circle over the past 12 years. Brenda’s in-laws were a great support, in particular, Geraldine, Lew and Natalie Higdon, Georgina and Mike Somerton, neighbours Lori, Kerry and Kaylee Ash and Mary McGrath. His many childhood friends, skidoo buddies, his little walking buddies Daisy and Maddie and their owner Susan Martin.
Bill had an infectious smile and a quick wit, no filter at times but it was always in fun and good humour. He liked to offer an opinion even if it was good, bad or ugly. Bill always had a voice, especially when it was important to him. He was a fighter who never gave up, he was loved and will be missed by many.
The family would like to thank everybody through this entire journey. Sending out a special thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Miller Centre for his short duration. We would like to thank Drs. Green, Doulton, Rorke, Drodge and the entire oncology team that provided care throughout the entire diagnosis. A thank you to the daily nursing staff, the PCU Ambulatory team and his homecare assistant, Dunston, who provided the utmost care and love during his last few weeks.
At Bill’s request, cremation has taken place. Resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Sunday, February 4th, 2024. A Funeral Liturgy to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at Dunphy’s Funeral Home on Monday, February 5th at 10:30 am. Inurnment will follow at a later date.
In Lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made can be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre.
