Passed peacefully away in her home in Boxey surrounded by her family, Susie G. Blagdon, age 91. Welcoming her home, her husband and our dad Jeremiah, daughter Lucy, infant son, grandsons Brian and Rick, her parents Stephen and Ethel and sisters Annie Rie and Hazel.
Thankful for many years of her love and support are her sons, Calvin and Ethel Blagdon of Boxey, Russell Blagdon of St. John’s, Ricky and Brenda Blagdon of Lewisporte, daughters Christine and Loren Savoury of Paradise, Eunice and Andrew Donovan of Catalina, Susan and Leo Rose of Boxey. Grandchildren Angie, Debbie, Cavell, Susan, Chris, Katie, Carolyn, Kristen, Richard, Robyn, Jill, Leanne, Jerry, two step-granddaughters Connie and Danielle and 19 great grandchildren. Also left with many fond memories, her sister Beatrice of Boxey and special brother-in-law Onslow Blagdon of Nova Scotia as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends.
Mom began her career as a teacher and finished with Canada Post as postmaster in English Harbour West, retiring in 1998. She was an active volunteer with many organizations over the years, including the Citizens Health Group, CNIB, the ACW as well as an active member of the 50+ club. Mom enjoyed bingo with her bingo buddies, especially Judy, Janice, Linda and her sister Beatrice. She enjoyed a good game of crib and cards with her friend Maisie and her grandchildren, whom she always had their favorite baked cookies ready. Not only was she always taking care of her family, her care also extended to the community cats Romeo, Blue and Fluffy. Her night wasn’t complete until she dedicated some time to knitting and solving the Wordle puzzle. Mom enjoyed spending time with Cathy, who was always there when needed.
Donations in her memory can be made to Bloomers of Hope, St. John the Evangelist Church or a charity of their choice.
Visitation at St. John the Evangelist Church on November 23rd from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service to be held on November 24th at 2pm, officiated by her nephews Reverend Bruce and Reverend Hubert.
