Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Debbie Skinner announces her passing at her home on November 14, 2024, surrounded by love. She was 62 years old. A devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Debbie’s life was defined by her kindness, hard work, and unwavering love for her family.
Debbie was born on November 8, 1962, in Grand Falls-Windsor, to Lloyd and Violet Mitchell. She spent the majority of her life in La Scie, where she met the love of her life, Winston, at the age of 18. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising three children and later their two grandsons. Their home was always a welcoming place, a true haven for family and friends alike. Debbie’s door was always open, her home filled with the laughter of her children’s and their many friends, you could always find a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies in the kitchen, and the fuller the house, the happier Debbie was.
A hardworking and dedicated woman, Debbie began her career in the fish plant, later transitioning to home care. For over a decade, she could be found behind the counter at Shoppers Drug Mart, where she formed lasting relationships with both colleagues and customers. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Debbie leaves to mourn her devoted husband of 32 years, Winston Skinner, with whom she shared 43 years together. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Terry Mitchell, Lloyd Skinner (Stephanie), and Nikki Schneider (Geoff), as well as her cherished grandchildren, T.J. Mitchell, Antonio Mitchell, and Ada Schneider. Her beloved, Maggie Mae.
She is also survived by her mother, Violet Mitchell; sisters, Gloria Scott (John), Kimberly Mitchell, Ivy Mitchell (Bronson), and brother Rick Mitchell (Loretta); as well as her brothers-in-law, Steve Skinner (Beth), Clarence Skinner (Mary), Dave Skinner (Yvonne), Jerome Skinner (Marlene), and sisters-in-law, Shirley Walsh (Joe) and Johanna Skinner (Billy). Additionally, she leaves behind a large circle of nieces, nephews, and extended family, all of whom she loved dearly.
Debbie was predeceased by her father, Lloyd Mitchell; her sister, Christine Shaw; her parents-in-law, Michael and Mary Ellen Skinner; her brother-in-law, Leonard Skinner; and her daughter-in-law, Annik Wheeler.
Debbie’s love, generosity, and nurturing spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever be cherished by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
