It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Michael J. Rideout of Terrenceville announces his passing. Michael passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness surrounded by his family and friends at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in Burin on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023, at the age of 61.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his siblings, Eileen Rideout (Billy) of Terrenceville, Sheila Handrigan (Jim) of Grand Bank, Leo Rideout Jr. (Jeanette) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Hester Butler (Godfrey) of St. John’s, Mary Barnes of St. Paul, AB, Rita Smith (Mark) of Fortune, Debbie Rideout (Tony) of Terrenceville, Peter Rideout of Terrenceville, Jack Rideout (Vivian) of Terrenceville and Ricky Rideout (Vicki) of Terrenceville; aunts and uncle, nieces and nephews; plus a large circle of relatives and friends.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, Sarah & Leo Rideout and brother-in-law, Roy Barnes.
Thank you to all of Mike’s homecare workers, Joan Hodder, Amanda Lee, Trudy Hodder, Bernadette Windsor, Tanya Smith-Hickey, Evelyn Walsh and Vicki Rideout for all their years of care and support. Special mention and thanks to his long time buddy, Greg & Cindy Mayo and Family.
We would like to thank the doctors and nurses on the medicine unit; Occupational Therapists; Physical Therapists; Social workers, Cynthia & Brianna; community liaison, Genie; medical clerk, Lorna; kitchen and laundry staff; and custodians for your care given to Mike during his hospital stay. And in turn for making us feel at home and at ease. You all went above and beyond! Special thank you to Cindy and Sabrina for always checking in and Mike’s special nurse and buddy, Steven.
Special thank you on behalf of the Rideout Family to Eileen and Billy Hickey for taking Mike under their wing and giving him a chance, a life of independence and caring for him like one of their own.

Funeral Service of Remembrance will take place at The Rideout Residence, 33 Oceanview Drive in Terrenceville on Saturday, November 11th, 2023 at 1:00 pm. Cremation to follow.
In Michael’s memory, donations may be made to The Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation or flowers gratefully accepted.
