Obituary
It is with broken hearts the families of Margaret Simmonds (nee Gillam) announce her passing on Saturday, July 13th, 2024, at the Bonne Bay Health Centre in Norris point at the age of 82 years.
She leaves to mourn with a lifetime of memories her husband of 63 years, Reginald Simmonds. Her children; Daniel Simmonds (Holley), Margaret (Molly) White (Austin), Laura Simmonds and Glenda Wilton. Grandchildren; Bethanne (Rick), Kathlene (Ben), Danielle (Tyler) and great grandchildren; Peyton, Alexis and Micelle. Siblings; Mildred, Linda, Robert, John, Annie, Barbara, Doris, Nancy, David, Bruce, Christanna, John (Wayne) Swyers, Georgina Granger: siblings-in-law; Violet, Fred, Lucy, Vivian and Lenora. Her special friend Betty (Young Crow). Also leaving to mourn are many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents John and Georgina Gillam, in-laws Samuel and Dorothy Simmonds. Son Bruce and nephew Clayton. Sister-in-law: Irean Wilton and Sister Phyllis joy.
Family was at the heart of Margaret’s life, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, from hosting holiday gatherings to evenings of laughter while playing cards. Her kitchen was always alive with the delicious aromas of her favorite recipes, as she delighted in cooking for those she adored.
A passionate crafter, Margaret found joy in rug hooking, quilting and knitting. Her artistry brought warmth and beauty to every occasion, leaving a lasting legacy of love through her creations.
An avid nature enthusiast, Margaret loved spending time outdoors, whether tending to her garden or walking the beach. She thoroughly enjoyed her time spent in the boat, and at the cabin with the love of her life, Reg. She found peace in the beauty of nature and the creatures within it, especially her crows. She shared this passion with her family, instilling in them a love for the outdoors.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024, at The Anglican Church in Woody Point from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Where also the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024, with Rev. Petten officiating. Interment to follow at the family plot.
