Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Ernest Raymond Bridger in his 70th year, on Monday July 1st,2024 at the palliative Care Unit in Corner Brook ,NL. He passed peacefully with his devoted wife by his side. Ern was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, son and brother-in-law.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Barbara of 50 years, his cherished son, Trevor. The lights of his life; grandsons, Bemjamin and David, and daughter-in-law, Ruth. He is leaving behind his sisters; Pearl (Allan) Andrews, Nellie (Norman), Shirley (Eddie) White, Thelma (Dean) and Lillian (Jim). Brothers; Ambrose Bridger, Norman Bridger, brothers-in-law; Richard (Cathy) Parsons, Roy (Ruth) Parsons, Glenn (Debbie) Parsons, Junior (Ann) Parsons and Cordell (Darlene) Parsons. Sisters-in-law; Jean (Zak) Sheikh, Frances Papiernik, Grace (James) Knight. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends including Diane Parsons.
Ern was predeceased by his parents, Violet Hillier Bridger and Arthur Bridger. Mother and father in law, Clarence and Annie Parsons. Sister, Irene Fancey and brothers-in-law; Frank Fancey, Tony Parsons, Lorenzo Bursey and Rick Papiernik and niece Andrea Papiernik.
Ern touched the lives of many with his humor and corny jokes, his smile and his ability to make children laugh. His happiest times were with his cherished grandsons, Benjamin and David. He enjoyed the outdoors and taking his son, Trevor, rabbit snaring, moose hunting, cutting wood, snowmobiling, quading and fishing. He particularly enjoyed listening to music, especially by the Sharecroppers, and he was in his glee at family gatherings with a hearty meal and toe tapping music. He enjoyed watching the Deer Lake Red Wings and never missed a game.
Special thanks to the team at Palliative Care, in Corner Brook; Dr. White, Dr. Lafferty and the nurses and health care staff who were instrumental in guiding Ern through the final part of his life’s journey. Thank you to nurse practitioner, Mollie Spence, whom he appreciated and loved. The staff at the Deer Lake Clinic. Dr. Holmes, radiologist in St. John’s. Staff at the Daffodil Place in St. John’s. Bethany Ball, Public health nurse, Deer Lake.
Visitation will take place at Parsons Funeral Home in Deer Lake on Friday, July 5th,2024 from the hours of 2-4 pm for family, friends and public. Continuing from the hours of 7-9 pm on July 5th,2024 at Mount Carmel Pentecostal Church in Howley, for family, friends and public.
A celebration of Ern’s life will take place at the Mount Carmel Pentecostal Church in Howley with Rev. Simon Muwowo officiating, accompanied by Pastor David Gifford on Saturday, July 6th,2024 at 2 pm. Interment will follow at the family plot in Howley.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ern’s memory to the Daffodil Place, 70 Ropewalk Lane, St. John’s, NL A1E 5T2 or to a charity of one’s choice.
