With heavy hearts we share the passing of Arthur (Art) George Antle of Deer Lake, loving husband of Florence Antle (Pye), on May 13, 2024 in his 86th year. Survived by his children Laura, Jamie (Juanita), Danny (Bonnie), and Daphne (Dave); grandchildren Victoria (Brent), William, Eric, Shanda, Chandler, Steven, Zachary and Zoe; great grandchildren Hudson, Connor, and Sophia; his siblings Paul (Linda), Debbie (Harold), and Lorna as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Zelma and Eugene Antle and siblings Effie, Marilyn, Max and Jeannie.
Art’s creative gift and hardworking nature were second to none. A skilled carpenter, he built many homes in Deer Lake, including his family home with all of its additions over years as it was transformed into a bed and breakfast which opened its doors to visitors from across the globe.
For many years he offered his time as a volunteer firefighter and ambulance driver, selflessly putting himself at risk to help others. With his natural artistic talent he painted countless breathtaking pictures and carved moose antlers into masterful pieces of artwork that served as one-of-a-kind souvenirs for tourists the world over.
He was fiercely proud of his Newfoundland heritage, gladly sharing his knowledge and folklore with anyone willing to lend an ear. He shared his passion for nature and creative expression with his extended family, who continue to foster the inspiration he so willingly provided
Visitation will take place at Parsons Funeral Home, on Wednesday, May 15th,2024 from the hours of 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, Deer Lake, on Thursday, May 16th,2024 at 2 pm with Pastor White officiating.
