It is with great sadness that the family of the late Verna Yvonne Lucy Barnes (nee. Crocker) announce her passing on Wednesday, August 21st, 2024 at the Western Long-Term Care, at the age of 69 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her husband: Johnny C. Barnes; their children: Rachel Barnes, and Jerry Barnes; grandchildren: Samantha Barnes, Veronica Barnes, and Annie Lee Barnes; great-grandchildren: Damon Campbell, Nathan Green, Peyton Green, Christopher Green, Elijah Barnes, and Carter Barnes; parents: Victor and Elizabeth Crocker; and siblings: Loyal, Roy, Russ, Willis, Francis, and Jason; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Verna is predeceased by her brother and sister: Derick Crocker, and Joan Crocker.
Verna had a love for her family that was unmatched. She was the most giving person, and was always there for whoever needed her. She loved to have a good chat, a good laugh, and she always gave the best hugs. Verna loved to have her can of Coca-Cola, a good chocolate bar, and some plain chips. She also loved taking a nice long stroll with a good friend. There are many things that made Verna the woman she was, but in our eyes, she will always be the best mom, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend; that anyone could have ever asked for.
There will be a visitation held on Thursday, August 22nd, 2024 at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. There will be another visitation to follow in Trout River, on Friday, August 23rd, 2024 from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Anglican Church in Trout River, from where the funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 24th, 2024 at 11 AM with Major Brian Wheeler officiating. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Trout River. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Verna’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society.
