The family of Norma Diane House (nee Hutchings) of Corner Brook are saddened to announce her passing after a courageous battle with cancer on May 24, 2024 at the age of 70. Norma passed away peacefully with her family by her side, just the way she wanted it.
Leaving to mourn with wonderful memories, her loving husband Warren House of 50 years; children: Sara House (Alfredo Gordillo), and Andrew House (Marcy), and her grandchildren: Parker and Nate House and Alexander and Lilli Gordillo the pride and joys of her life. She was also survived by her brothers Scott Hutchings and David Hutchings and her sister Daphne O’Leary (Paul); brothers and sisters-in-law: Gerald House (Wanda), Calvin House (Kathleen), Joseph House (Mercedes), Maxine Payne (Faron) and Emma House; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Maxwell and Myrtle Hutchings, parents-in-law Henry and Edith House, baby brother Hutchings, sisters-in-law Nancy Reid and Mildred Hutchings and brother-in-law John House.
Norma worked at Sears in Corner Brook for over 20 years where she met a lot of people and developed many great friendships with her coworkers. Norma and Warren loved to travel, especially to Cuba and Mexico and in later years spent 5 months of the year in Alberta to spend time with their grandkids and continued making new friends along their journey. She loved the great outdoors, spending time in her garden and the many quad rides and visits to the beach on the coast. Norma loved to watch her tv shows but her all time favorite was Coronation Street, which she watched faithfully since the 1960s. She loved spending time with family and friends and especially enjoyed her Friday nights with “The Wine Snobs.” Above all Norma was a kind, generous lady, always so positive, no matter what was thrown her way. She had a great sense of humour that she kept to the very end.
A very special thank you to all the Doctors and Nurses at the Western Palliative Care Unit and to everyone who helped her during her illness.
Cremation has taken place, a memorial service will be held at a later date. If so desired, a donation to the Western Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated.
