Obituary
It is with profound sadness that the family of Neil Patrick Reddy announces his passing on June 17th, 2024, at the Palliative Care Unit in Corner Brook, NL. Neil was born on July 16, 1941, to Philip and Alice (O’Neil) Reddy in Corner Brook, NL. He was the youngest of eight children and spent his childhood in Reddy’s Field. At the age of 17, Neil began his professional journey as a Telephone Technician with Newfoundland Telephone, where he dedicated 40 years of service before retiring at 58. In his later years, Neil enjoyed relaxing, watching the Blue Jays with family, walking with his beloved dog Jake, and was renowned for his sharp wit and humor.
At 22, Neil met the love of his life and best friend, Marie (Connolly) Reddy. They married in 1969 and shared 55 wonderful years together. Neil was a proud father to their three sons: Tony (Shelly), Paul (Nancy), and Michael. His four grandchildren, Claire, Kallen, Noah, and MaKayla, were his pride and joy. Neil also cherished Andrew and Lynn Spencer, and Jim and Amy Parsons as if they were his own children.
He is survived by his brother, Edward (Ned) Reddy, and extended family members Brian Connolly, Donald Connolly, Trudy (Paul) Peterson, Sandra Connolly, Leona Batstone, and Mary (Dave) Hackett. Neil also leaves behind a large circle of nephews, nieces, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Neil was predeceased by his parents, Philip and Alice Reddy; siblings Arthur Reddy, Mary (Pat) Turner, Margaret (Charles) King, Norah (Nicholas) Krsmanovich, Daniel Reddy, and Sarah Reddy; in-laws Captain Tony Connolly and Della (Bennett) Connolly; and siblings-in-law Regina (Connolly) Martarella, Leona (Gallant) Connolly, Bernard (Dianne) Connolly, John Connolly, and Marguerite McLean. Cherished friends Johnny Byrne, Phonse Delaney, and Terry Madore.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the ICU and Palliative Care Staff at Western Memorial Regional Hospital for their compassionate care.
Neil will be remembered for his love, humor, and the indelible mark he left on those who knew him.
At Neil’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation taking place at Country Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, June 20th, 2024 from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, from where the funeral service will take place at 10 AM on Friday, June 21st, 2024 at the Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Parish, Mount Bernard Avenue, with Father Edward Terry officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted, or a donation can be made to the Diabeties Association (www.diabetes.ca/), or the Brain Tumour Foundation (www.braintumour.ca/).
