Lawrence Joseph Connolly
November 14, 1950 – January 18, 2024
It is with profound sadness that the family of Lawrence Joseph Connolly from Stephenville Crossing announce his passing on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the age of 73 years.
Lawrence will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Debra of 48 years; his sons: Quentin (Kelly) and Nathan; grandsons: Braeden, Owen, and Finn; sisters: Eva (Keith), Rona, Tina, Matilda, and Norma (Joanne); brother, Jerome; as well as many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Patricia and brothers: Ralph, Harold, Joe, Teddy, Leroy, and Ron.
Family and friends will remember Lawrence for his great love and pride for his family. He was a kind and devoted husband, father, grand-father, father-in-law, and brother who has left his family with many wonderful memories. Always ready to meet new people everywhere he went, Lawrence would make friends easily through conversation, stories, and jokes. He could always be counted on to share his talents and help others. Often spending time outdoors, Lawrence enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, travelling by skidoo, three-wheeler, and side-by-side. Braeden, Owen, and Finn will fondly remember going on adventures with Papa. Lawrence enjoyed hockey, especially watching the Boston Bruins, reading Louis L’Amour, and loved music.
Lawrence worked as a carpenter scaffolder for his entire career. He shared his creative construction talents and attention to detail with his sons and grandsons, and he enjoyed lending a hand and teaching them many skills.
Lawrence was a proud and active member of the Knights of Columbus, Fire Department and Search & Rescue. He was also a member of the Qualipu First Nation Band and enjoyed going to cultural events throughout Newfoundland and Nova Scotia.
The family wishes to share sincere thanks to Glynis Humber for her support.
