Howard Brenton (Brent) Cameron
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Howard Brenton (Brent) Cameron, 77, of Steady Brook, Newfoundland.
Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, on January 6th, 1947, he was the son of the late Robert and Genevra (Lake) Cameron.
Brent passed away on February 13th, 2024, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. He is survived by his sister, Susan Bent of Shediac, NB; niece, Amanda Bent (Denys Allain) and great-niece Maryeve Allain of Shediac, NB; dear friend, Marilyn Bullen of Corner Brook, NL; stepchildren, Jennifer Bullen of Stephenville Crossing, NL, and Jeremy (Kim) Bullen and their children, Christian and Courtney Bullen, of Mississauga, Ontario; his first wife, Anna Marie Cameron of Cambridge Narrows, NB; and her extended family, including nieces and nephews; and, many cousins living across Atlantic Canada and Ontario.
Brent spent his career as a member of the RCMP and served in communities across New Brunswick, Northwest Territories, and Newfoundland from 1966 to 1995 when he retired.
He loved to share stories, whether recounting adventures from his days in the RCMP, spinning fish tales of times on the river with friends, or discussing the Blue Jays (only if they were winning). Throughout his life, his love for boating, motorcycling, or skiing at Marble Mountain evolved into fishing on the Humber River, crafting beautiful meals, and gardening. Still, one thing that remained consistent throughout his life was the love for his family and the faithful companionship of his beloved dogs, steadfast by his side.
Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, and friends Don Diamond and Greg Howlett for their friendship and regular visits.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Corner Brook. Cremation has taken place, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
