Donald Maxwell Taylor

It is with heavy hearts, we say goodbye to our father, Donald Maxwell Taylor who passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the age of 89 after a brief illness. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Cathy and Glenn, Linda and Colin, Stephen and Arlene, grandchildren: Erika, Alexander, Joshua and Andrew, great grandchildren: Lincoln, Sullivan and Lauren. He is also survived by his brother Jack and wife Barbara and sister in law Marjorie Fradsham as well as many nephews and nieces. Don was predeceased by his wife Margaret (Fradsham), his parents Selby and Harriet (McLennan) Taylor, siblings William (Bride), Lillian (Bud), Gwendolyn (Jack), Howard (Bernice), Roy, and Marion (Bill).
Don graduated from high school and commenced employment at Bowaters as an apprentice carpenter where he earned his Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter designation. He then made a career change to become an educator. Initially, he delivered carpentry training to upgrade practicing carpenters and then became the inaugural carpentry instructor at the Corner Brook District Vocational School. He later returned to the mill serving in senior management roles in human resources and industrial relations. After a successful career, he retired in October 1992 and spent his days in his woodworking shop creating wooden works of art. Don also volunteered with Junior Achievers, was former Chair of the United Church School Board, served on the Provincial Apprenticeship and Trades Certification Board and was a skilled arbitrator.
Woodworking was his passion, but he also loved sports, fishing, automobiles and would always contribute his opinion when the topic of politics surfaced . He loved a good joke, a story, fine food, wine and company. He may be gone, but never forgotten. Bye bye Daddy Don. We love you!
