Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Brian Robert Farwell announce his passing on Monday, May 20th, 2024 at the Corner Brook Palliative Care Unit at the age of 57 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife: Julie Farwell; sister: Sharon Pennell (Rick); step-son: Andy Horncastle (Brittany); daughters: Kaitlyn Forster (Keith), Emma Farwell (Matthew), and Mary Beth Farwell (Cory); step-sons: Justin Sprathoff (Jessie), and Joel Sprathoff (Renelle); grandchildren: Ben, Wyatt, Mirabelle, Marcus, Garett, Kiera, Quinnleigh, Ezra, Jayla, and Jace; nephews: Christopher Pennell (Stephanie), and Bradley Pennell (Sabrina); and cousin: Darren Farwell (Pauline); as well as a large circle of other family members, and many, many friends.
Brian is predeceased by his parents: Roland and Catherine “Kay” Farwell; and his numerous beloved fur babies.
Brian was born May 12th, 1967 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, in Corner Brook, NL. He graduated from Herdman Collegiate in 1985. He pursued a Bachelor of Science and Forestry degree from UNB in 1991. From there, he moved to beautiful British Columbia to pursue his 30-year career with the B.C. Forest Service. He then retuned home to Newfoundland in 2021 to pursue his retirement dream with his wife Julie. Brian will be remembered with fondness for his love of hunting, and took pride in feeding his family. He spent countless hours supporting his children’s sports and other activities, while still managing to participate in soft ball, curling, volleyball, and other countless sporting events he loved himself.
At Brian’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation taking place on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024 at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. There will be no formal funeral service at this time. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Brian’s memory to your local SPCA.
