Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Austin Gilbert Patey announce his passing at his home, on Wednesday, October 11th, 2023 in his 76th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his common-law wife: Bernice Leprieur; children: Todd (Sabrina), Lisa, Helen (Gary), Chad, Tara (Will), and Elaine (Weldon); 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his brother: Chris (Joan); and sisters: Noel (Richard), and Donna; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Austin is predeceased by his wife: Sheila; parents: Arch and Emmy Patey; sisters: Lorraine, Diane, and Effie; and daughter-in-law: Rose.
Austin was a man who loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. In his early years “Aus” was a man of many talents and you could always hear him playing guitar and mandolin for his many friends and family. Aus was a lover of music, and most of all, his precious family.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation held on Thursday, October 19th, 2023 at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, from where the funeral service will take place on Friday, October 20th, 2023 at 11 AM in the Country Haven Chapel with Rev. Jocelyn Cook officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted, or a donation can be made in Aus’ memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of one’s choice.
