It is with the upmost sadness the family of the late Andrew Toope announce his passing at the Bonne Bay Health Centre on Saturday, August 31, 2024 with his loving wife and family by his side. He was 65 years old.
Andrew Toope was born February 6, 1959 to parents James and Jane Toope of Pond Cove. He was one of eleven, he had three brothers: James (Yvonne), Roy (Rhoda), Reg (Kathy) and seven sisters: Minnie (Wyman), Rachel (Stephen), Judy (Tom), Eileen (Sterling), Beulah (Joe), Dorcas (Dan), Jackie (Derek). On August 24, 1985, he married the love of his life, Florence Caines of Port au Choix. They raised two children: Joanne and Andrew (Susan). He also leaves to mourn sister-in-law Peggy Caines (Dion) and many nieces and nephews.
Andrew was born and raised in Pond Cove. He spent many years working at the plant in Port au Choix before changing careers and working with ROTO-MILL in Ontario. He was an active member of the Port au Choix Fire Department for 25 plus years. He had a love for sports and the outdoors. He went on a lot of fishing trips into Camp Six and moose hunting trips with his best friend Cliff Caines. Andrew had a witty sense of humour and a kind heart. He was always there to lend a helping hand. Most of all he loved spending time with his friends and family.
He leaves many memories with a large number of friends and family. A special thanks to all of his home care workers over the past six years that allowed him to live at his home where he wanted to be.
Predeceased by: Mother & Father: Jane (Gibbons) & James Toope; Mother & Father-in-law: Eudora and Rapheal Caines; Brother: James Toope; Sister: Minnie Mitchelmore; Nephews: Roy Toope Jr & Wayne Mitchelmore.
Visitation will take place at St. Thomas Beckett Anglican Church in Port Au Choix, NL.
Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 7pm – 9pm (Family Service)
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 @ 2pm with the Reverend Marie Smith officiating.
Cremation has taken place.
