Mary’s Obituary
In Memory Of Mary C. Murphy (nee Wall), Bowmanville, ON (formerly of Avondale, NL) – It is with great sadness that the family of Mary announce her passing on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Bowmanville, Ontario, at the age of 75 years.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years Pat; her son Todd; grandson Kyle, and granddaughter Darcy whom she told before her passing were her “Everything” and she was so proud of them.
Predeceased by her parents: Marjorie and Patrick Wall; her brothers: Eddie and Linus; nephews: Edward Kelly Jr., and Jeffrey Wall; parents-in-law: Thomas and Rita Murphy; brother-in-law Roger; sisters-in-law: Madonna and Joan.
She will be remembered forever by her siblings: Kevin (Joyce), Doreen (Pat Sparrow), Bill (Betty deceased), Gerald (Maize), Wayne (Marg), Don and Shirley. Fondly missed by her in-laws the Murphys and families in St. John’s and Ontario; nieces, nephews and their families.
Mary was born and raised at Avondale, Newfoundland and at the very young age of 17 joined her brothers Kevin and Neddie in Toronto and area. Mary and Pat married in 1969 and made Oshawa their home. It was very soon after that Mom and Dad began their annual trip to “Toronto” (to them everyone in Ontario lived in Toronto) and stayed with Mary and Pat who made sure their stay was filled with visits to their sons, all the major sites, camping, Bingo, lots of shopping and eating out especially at Teddy’s, Mary’s favorite restaurant. Over the years all of our family and friends at some point stayed at Mary’s wheather for pleasure, for work or just for the nite while passing through.
Mary was a news junkie and she could keep you up to date on happenings all over the world, sports scores and her favorite topic politics. She had very strong opinions and some colourful names for our leaders here and across the boarder. The upcoming elections would have entertained her for months. She didn’t need much coaxing to go to her other ‘happy place’… the casino, any casino where she collected some very expensive gifts for free!
Mary lived her life the way she wanted, and she died the way she wished.
At Mary’s request cremation has taken place.
Those we love can never be more than a thought away,
For as long as there’s a memory,
They live in our hearts to stay…
