Helen Irene Fleming
August 14th, 1950- July 15th, 2024
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and a dear friend to everyone around her.
Irene married the love of her life on May 21st, 1976 in St. John’s, NL. They moved to Bonavista/ Spillar’s Cove where they raised 4 beautiful daughters, Wanece, Eileen, Kimberly and NoraLynn, which she loved more than anything else in life. In 2004 both her and dad moved to Alberta where she worked with Wanece and Eileen; at a job that she absolutely loved, for a few years and made many friends along the way. Her most treasured possessions for the last 14 years were her grandsons Devon, Chance, Harley and Colton, who had kept her fighting until the very end.
Predeceased by her mother and father Doris and Thomas Keats and her sisters Wilma Mouland and Madonna Keats.
Leaving to mourn with many loving memories are her husband Bill, daughters Wanece, Eileen (Larry), Kimberly (Mike), NoraLynn (Mark), her 4 grandsons Devon, Chance, Harley and Colton, 2 great granddaughters Chelsea (Sean) and Autumn. Brother David (Jeanie; deceased), Wesley (Audrey), Wilson (Alice), sister Rowena (Eli) as well as an abundance of nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and her life long friend Myrtle who was more like a sister than a friend.
A special thank- you to her amazing family doctor Brenda Penney, her wonderful home care worker Beverly Fleming and all the wonderful nurses and doctors at the Bonavista Hospital, as well as at the ICU at G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital for the amazing care over the last few days of her life.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Janeway Hospital may be made in her honour.
Visitation will be held at Strathie’s Funeral Home, Bonavista on Tuesday, July 16th, Wednesday, July 17th and Thursday, July 18th from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm.
Funeral Service will take place from the Salvation Army Citadel on Friday, July 19th at 11am with interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery.
