It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dave Cox on July 8th, 2024
Predeceased by his parents Myra (nee Abbott) and Wilson Cox. Leaving to mourn are his wife Pauline (nee Blanchard), his son Terry, and daughter-in-law Stacy; brothers Ross (Brenda) and Barry (Krista), along with endless family and friends extending from Newfoundland to Ontario.
Born in Bonavista, Dave spent most of his adult life in Scarborough, Ontario where he met the love of his life Pauline; his “Ducky” who remained by his side for 43 years. To know Dave was to know nothing was more important to him than spending time with Ducky and Terry. Getting to talk about sports and enjoy football Sunday with his best friend and son meant the world to him. They were often joined by his favourite furry friend, Michael.
As an avid sports fan Dave never missed an opportunity to cheer on the Toronto Maple Leafs or the Las Vegas Raiders. This love of sports was passed on to Terry and their family spent many weekends throwing around the football, playing basketball and in the winters he brought everyone together, building outdoor hockey rinks in the backyard. Dave will be dearly missed by all of his loved ones near and far.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Strathie’s Funeral Home, Bonavista on Sunday, July 14th from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm.
Funeral Service will take place from the Salvation Army Citadel, Bonavista, Monday, July 15th at 10:00am. Inurnment to directly follow at the Salvation Army.
