It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andrew Keough, age 98, on December 3, 2024, at the Bonavista Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. A man of remarkable strength, resilience and dedication, he was the cornerstone of his family and a beloved figure in the lives of all who knew him.
Predeceased by his loving wife, Patricia (O’Neill); parents John and Margaret Keough (O’Driscoll); father and mother-in-law Fred and Mary O’Neill; brothers Ignatius, Mark, John; sister Mary Bridget; step-brother Michael; brothers-in-law Cyril and Dennis O’Neill; sister-in-law Dene Philpott and Debbie O’Neill.
Left to mourn with the most beautiful memories are sons Edward (Shelley), Michael, Doug (Donna), and James (Heather); beloved grandchildren Harlee, Erika, Courtney, Jordan, Riley and Hannah; special niece Lorraine Duffy (Roderick); brothers-in-law Ronald (Moe), Edward (Mary), Freddie O’Neill (Cavelle) and Blair Philpott; sisters-in-law Peggy (Stewart) Mackey, Linda, Rose (Hedley), Ivany and Dianne O’Neill, along with a large circle of nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
Born in Plate Cove East on October 10, 1926, Andrew dedicated his life to hard work and his family. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, and their well-being was always his top priority. He taught them the values of hard work, integrity, and compassion. His deep love for his grandchildren was evident in the way his eyes lit up whenever they visited. They cherished each other’s laughter and stories, making time with them some if his most treasured moments. He had a remarkable gift for storytelling, captivating everyone with his vivid memories, humour, and heartfelt wisdom. His stories connected generations and left a legacy of laughter and lasting memories.
The family would like to thank the nurses at the Bonavista Hospital and his dedicated home support workers, Sharon Ivany, Sherry Maloney and Bride O’Driscoll. All who cared for Andrew both at home and in the Bonavista Hospital did so exceptionally and treated him with dignity, kindness and respect.
Andrew will be resting at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Parish in Plate Cove.
Visitation will take place on Friday, December 6th, from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm (Rosary at 7:30pm, followed by a celebration of life).
A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, December 7th, at 11:00am, followed by interment at St. Patrick’s Parish Cemetery, Plate Cove East. A gathering will follow the service at St. Patrick’s Parish Center.
