It is with profound sadness that the family of Pauline Bishop (née O’Driscoll) announces her peaceful passing on November 16, 2024, just one day shy of her 83rd birthday. She was lovingly welcomed at heaven’s gate by her devoted husband, Hayward Bishop, her parents Bridget and James O’Driscoll, her brother Loyola O’Driscoll (wife Winnie), her infant brothers John and George, and many cherished family members.
Pauline was a devoted mother to her three children, Cheryl (Gerald Rowe), Sean (Pauline), and Renee (Mark Crane), who hold countless treasured memories of her love and care. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren, Tonia, Jordan, Gerianne (Kyle), Lakeisha (Brendan), Kendra, and Noah, and her four great-grandchildren, Hayward, Henderson, Meredith, and Jovie. She also leaves behind her beloved siblings: Veronica Earle, Patricia Moore, Jean Hodder, James (Rhena) O’Driscoll, Genevieve Langer, Daniel (Margaret) O’Driscoll, Rosemary Maloney, Margaret Fitzgerald, and Joseph (Deborah) O’Driscoll.
Pauline will be remembered for her gentle demeanor, unwavering kindness, and steadfast faith. Her dedication to her church was unprecedented. She was a devout member of the Catholic Women’s League and the Legion of Mary of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church for over 30 years. Pauline believed deeply in the power of prayer, praying multiple daily rosaries for her loved ones. She also dedicated countless hours to visiting hospitals and nursing homes with the Legion of Mary, offering comfort and prayer to those in need.
Her grandchildren fondly recall her playful spirit, her endless repertoire of rhymes and songs, and, above all, her boundless love and care for her family.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional staff and Dr. Becker of 3 South at the Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion for their compassionate care over the past seven years. Special thanks are also offered to Dr. Chris Peddle and the staff of Luxury Estates (Lane’s Retirement) in Carbonear for their dedicated support.
“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”
