POOLE, John Frederick – Passed peacefully away at his home in Carbonear on April 17, 2024, in the comfort and care of his loving family, John Poole, aged 90 years.
John was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and James Poole; his brother, William Poole; sisters, Bessie Butt, Violet Cook, Mildred Howell, Gladys Jones, Nellie Winter, and Margaret Williams; and parents-in-law, Grace and George Soper.
He is survived and will be fondly remembered by his loving wife of more than 63 years, Margaret (nee Soper); daughters Marsha (Daniel) Ottawa, ON; Wanda (David) Freshwater, NL; Leanne (Rod) Paradise, NL; and his grandchildren, Jennifer Trickett, Brittany Trickett, Mitchell Trickett, and PJ Dobbin, as well as many nephews, nieces, and friends.
John began his working career in 1951 with the Hudson’s Bay Company in Goose Bay, a job took him to many places across Canada. In 1966, John and Marg moved to Wabush, Labrador where he embarked on a 30-year career as an electrician with Wabush Mines, and where they raised their family. He was loyal and dedicated to his family, his work, and to his many friends and co- workers.
The family would like to thank The Support Team from the Eastern Health Home and Community Care Palliative end of life program along with Dr. Christopher J Peddle for their compassion and guidance over the last 10 months. A heart felt thank you to Renee Dobbin and Leanne Newhook for going above and beyond in providing care.
John will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will take place on Thursday April 25 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Slade’s Funeral Home, 31 Powell Drive, Carbonear, NL. Funeral Service to take place on Friday, April 26 at 11:00 am from the Edward Slade Memorial Chapel, Powell Drive Carbonear. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Cremation has taken place.
