With deep sadness, the family announces the passing of Marina (Nina) Serreti on December 17, 2023 at Victoria General Hospital.
Nina was predeceased by her husband Frank, her parents Antonino and Rosaria Pesce, brothers Carlo, Antonino, Vincenzo, Michele, Antonio, and sister Maria. She leaves to cherish her memory her children; Giuseppina (Remi), Carmine (Kim) and Esperia, her six grandchildren; Michael, Paul, Anne-Marie, Christopher, Stephen, Jeffrey, two great-grandchildren; Darrian and Emma, and sister-in-law Itala Pesce. She will be sadly missed by her numerous nephews, nieces, and other relatives in Canada, Italy and Holland.
Nina was born on Oct 14, 1929 in Filandari, Italy. On September 24, 1950, she married the love of her life, Francesco. In 1954
Nina, with her husband and daughter, immigrated to Canada. Despite the hardships of the early years in Canada, Nina and Frank made great efforts to ensure their children could have opportunities they never had. Having spent time in a convent in her younger years, Nina was a devote Catholic and made certain her children had a religious upbringing. Nina had many skills. She was an excellent seamstress, specializing in making drapes, and an exceptional cook. Nina was well-known for her Cannoli, and delicious Italian dishes. She took great delight in sharing and teaching her recipes to her children, grandchildren and friends. Nina was well-loved. She made many special life-long friends wherever she lived.
The family would like to offer their sincere gratitude to the 5th floor staff at Victoria Hospital, for their care, support and compassion during Nina’s very difficult journey. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Rosary Church in Nina’s memory.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue, Rev. Father Sam Argenziano celebrant. Viewing and condolences will begin at 10:00 a.m. A private entombment will take place at Holy Angel Mausoleum, Hwy. 1 E. and Navin Rd., Winnipeg, Manitoba.
