It is with profound sadness we announce the tragic passing of Anthony on May 20, 2024.
Anthony was born and raised in the Garden City area of Winnipeg. He attended Forest
Park School, H.C. Avery and Garden City Collegiate where he made many friends.
Football was Anthony’s passion. He began his football career at the age of five as the
water boy for his big brother’s football team, The North Winnipeg Nomads midget team.
This was a job that he took very seriously and was so proud to run onto the field with his
family cheering him on from the sidelines. He would be beaming from ear to ear when
the team would all say, “Thanks Little Naylor.” Finally at the age of seven when he was
able to play football himself there was no stopping him! He received MVP trophies in
every division that he played in. In 2017 Anthony received team MVP scoring an
outstanding 52 touchdowns that year. Anthony was always sure to tease his big brother
Devon that he held the family record for most touchdowns in a season.
Anthony was better known as Naylor to his friends, something his big brother Devon
passed on to him. Anthony was proud of the Naylor name and made sure that his first
tattoo was “Naylor” across his forearm where everyone could see it.
Anthony was lucky enough to grow up with older cousins whom he considered siblings.
Kera, being the only girl in the family, Anthony was more than willing to hold the
shopping bags during their many shopping sprees and sit for hours to have her practice
hair and make-up on him and Cody, who taught him everything he knew about
programming and electronics.
Anthony’s first job was in the garden center at Canadian Tire where on occasion he was
known to have been talked to for spending too much time talking to and helping
customers. That was Anthony, always friendly and helpful to everyone. Anthony’s next
job was working alongside his dad doing stucco. Anthony’s strong work ethic made his
dad very proud.
Anthony was so excited two years ago when his little cousin AJ was born. It meant
Anthony was not the baby in the family anymore, but he was happy to pass on that title.
Anthony said it was too weird to be called cousin so he was going to be called uncle. He
had plans to buy AJ his first Jordan track suit and matching shoes when he was older,
Anthony sure loved his shoes! AJ will forever have a guardian angel looking out for him.
Anyone that had the pleasure of meeting Anthony loved him. He would always ask how
you were with a big smile and warm hug. He was the most compassionate, loving person
and will be missed dearly. He touched the lives of any person that was lucky enough to
call him a friend and we are all better for having known him.
Anthony will be greatly missed by his Mom Tara (Rob), Dad Paul (Sherry), big brother
Devon, little brother Marcus, sister Taleisha, Grandma Trudy, Aunty Tracy, Uncle Darryl,
cousins Cody, Kera (Austyn), special little cousin AJ, nana Cathy and extended family in
Jamaica, England, Canada and the United States.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 10:00 am at Mosaic Funeral
Home, 1839 Inkster Blvd, Winnipeg, MB. Everyone is invited to share a memory of our
dear Anthony at his service.
Rest in peace our special boy till we meet again.
