Obituary
Passed suddenly away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, Cory Smith, aged 52 years.
Cory is predeceased by his Mother Velma Smith; Mother and Father-in-law Eileen and Melvin Williams; grandparents Maude and Isaac Park and Minnie and Silas Smith; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins who have gone before him.
Cory was born on January 20, 1971, to two very proud parents, Velma and Ivan Smith. He grew up in Dildo where he was surrounded by a large circle of family and close friends. After finishing High School, he completed a degree in Community Studies, worked as a Youth Counsellor for many years in British Columbia, until he became a welder by trade and moved back to Newfoundland.
Cory met the love of his life, Teena, in 1998 and they were married on December 17, 1999. They built a life together having two children, Nicholas and Sabrina.
Leaving to mourn with broken hearts are his wife,Teena; daughters AnnMarie and Sabrina; son Nicholas; Father Ivan; sister Wanda-Lee (Brad);niece Claire; as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.
Cory was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Cory loved having coffee and a drink with those he held dear. He hosted many gatherings, cooking and experimenting with different recipes. He treasured his trips to Lark Harbour (LA) and days on trail rides. One of his biggest passions was playing the guitar and drums and loved to jam with friends and family.
Visitation will be held from Warren’s Funeral Home, Dildo, on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm and Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, 2:00 – 4:00 pm, and 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
A funeral service to celebrate Cory’s life will be heldfrom Warren’s Funeral Home, Dildo, on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 2:00 pm.
Cremation to follow with interment to take place at a later date.
Donations in Cory’s memory may be made to the Cory Smith Memorial Fund.
