It is with deep regrets that we announce the passing Richard Joseph Ben on Monday, October 21st 2024 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at the age of 42 years.
Richard Ben is survived by his Mom Jenny Ben; Daughters Chloe Whitehawk and Graceful Wuttunee Ben; Sister Jennifer Gamble (Kerry); Brother Ivan Ben; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Richard Ben is predeceased by his Dad Peter Merz; Brothers Clifton Ben, John Ben and Gregory Ben; and Grandparents John and Annie Merz, and Edna Ben.
Richard will be remembered for his fun-loving personality and quick wit, he brought smiles wherever he went. He had a deep care for others and a strong connection to his community. He enjoyed golf, fitness, movies, boating, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Richard served in politics for 18 years. He was known for sharing his favorite quote, passed down from his father: “It’s hard to soar like an eagle when you hang out with a bunch of turkeys.” He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Wake will be conducted from the Simon and Alma Kytwayhat Memorial Community Hall on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, starting at 11:30 a.m. with the Funeral Service to follow on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
Interment to follow at the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation Cemetery,
