Charles Paddy Sr. (Charlie) was born into the family of late William Paddy and late Clara Fly. He was raised in Thunderchild First Nation by his parents until he left for residential school. He joined the military (Regina Rifles) and trained to go to war. His unit was turned back due to the war ending. Charlie came home and met his wife Florence. They married a few years later and began building their family. He spent 30+ years in leadership, either serving as Chief or head man. He was instrumental in the T.L.E. and S.L.C. negotiations and other major projects for the community. Charlie supported a variety of sports and was a huge supporter of the local ball teams such as; the T.C. Clippers, Nehiyawak and the Ramrods. He would travel with them to various tournaments in Western Canada. He was a coach and manager for the hockey team, T.C. Warriors. Charlie was a Champion hand game player traveling far and wide. He shared his knowledge and love of the game with his family throughout the years. Charlie was a kind, humble, humorous and a compassionate man. Within the surrounding communities he was known as a gentle giant, a big teddy bear or a care bear. He went out of his way to assist and help others. He was very active in traditional ceremonies and cultural teachings with collaboration of other elders in the community especially late elder Norman Sunchild these are the teachings that they left with the community and they are written in the plaque at the health center;

Sokeytamowin (Courage) Tapwekemowin (Honesty)
Wakotowin (Kinship)
With these teachings they were implemented into a wellness feast beginning of each year and that health carries on this day.
He is survived by his children; Charles (Annie), Vivian (Wesley), Kelly (Gisselle), and Phyllis (Danny); adopted sons Francis Jimmy (Maureen), Roy Bison, numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his parents William Paddy Sr. and Clara Fly, his wife Florence Paddy, his siblings Maria Watchmaker, Agnes Paddy, Francis Paddy, and Georgina Paddy, his sons Leonard Paddy (Leo), Ernest Paddy and Wallace Paddy, his grandchild Tristan Paddy and his chapans Avery Cameron (Seeseequasis), Charisse Dustyhorn- Carter; also numerous nieces and nephews.
