Obituary of Marcel Wilbroud Therriault
Marcel Wilbroud Therriault was born in an ambulance en route to the hospital on April 6, 1959. Thus began his lifelong automotive passion. Marcel was raised in Donelly, where he spent his childhood helping with the farm. At an early age, he drove the grain truck. This meant putting blocks on the gas pedal so that he could reach. Marcel enjoyed modifying any vehicles he could find, which included swapping a larger steering wheel out for a smaller one on farming equipment. His curiosity also expanded into the world of science, where he found himself on the receiving end of an exploding chemistry set. He learned that science should be done in a lab, not a bathroom.
As a young adult, Marcel moved to Edmonton to pursue a trade in mechanical work. The early years of his profession took him to Northern Alberta and the Territories. Marcel decided that the Territories were too cold for him, so he hopped on a motorbike and headed south. So south, that he (almost) hit the Mexican border, but turned back.
Eventually, he found his way to Peace River, where Marcel’s life would forever change. There he met the love of his life, Debbie. Every Friday, he would conveniently be buying beers for his “staff meetings”, always looking for Debbie at checkout. Marcel eventually worked up the courage to ask Debbie for a date. Their first date turned into 36 years of marriage.
Marcel and Debbie eventually moved to Prince Albert and started a family. First came Nicole, then came along Kristine, or “second daughter” as Marcel so fondly called her. His family was his pride and joy and he showed it daily. Marcel enjoyed camping at Candle Lake with his girls, gardening, scuba diving, and of course playing cards. He was exceptionally innovative, his frequent “tinkerings” resulted in many creations. Marcel was an animal lover as well, whether that meant showering his “grandfurchildren” with pets or feeding the deer that wandered into the yard.
Though he was a quiet man his acts of love touched many lives. He will be missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him.
You are forever loved by your girls, until we meet again.
