Wayne McBeath
March 29, 1944 — September 29, 2024
Wayne William McBeath entered his eternal rest on September 29, 2024, at St. Paul’s Hospital surrounded by his family. Wayne made a brief but courageous fight against liver cancer that he was diagnosed with at the end of July of this year. He was 80 years young.
Left to mourn are his wife of 61 years, Emily McBeath, daughter Christine (Darcy) Cook, grandson Tyson Cook, sister Joyce McBeath and brother Lloyd (Reina) McBeath and several nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his parents Margaret and Jack, his sisters, Fern, Lucy, Thelma and brother Eugene.
Wayne was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on March 29, 1944, to Margaret and Jack McBeath. Wayne spent his childhood in Prince Albert, where he met the love of his life Emily. They were married in Saskatoon on September 7, 1963, where they made their home.
Wayne worked for Coke a Cola, McGavins Bakery, before starting his career with Intercontinental Packers (Mitchell Gourmet Foods) on November 9, 1970, as a line worker and worked his way up to become a Foreman which he greatly enjoyed working until his retirement April 1, 2004. Wayne was a jokester at work and at home, there wasn’t a prank that he wasn’t involved in, or was the center of some of the pranks played on him. He made a lot of friends, which some he remained in contact with. After his retirement he went back to Mitchell Gourmet Foods as a consultant for a couple of years. He then started marshalling at Elk Ridge where he could spend summers camping at Waskesiu which he enjoyed spending time with family. He especially enjoyed this time with his grandson Tyson. After Elk Ridge he started working for Midcan Brokers up until September 2023.
Wayne loved to travel to the mountains and the BC coast, which he made the trip with his family multiple times throughout his life. Most of all he loved spending summers camping at Waskesiu and driving around looking for animals. He always enjoyed watching the Elk, especially in the fall. There were many fishing trips that he and his brother Lloyd took on weekends, looking for that “big one” that got away and many stories to be told, that never will be or maybe shouldn’t be told. It was fortunate that the family could get Wayne to Waskesiu one last time for a camping weekend to celebrate their 61st anniversary.
Wayne was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather and brother, there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for a person. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandson Tyson or (Boots) as sometimes he would call him, that was his special nickname for him. We will always have our memories that we will cherish. We love you and miss you deeply, going to Waskesiu will never be the same.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Palliative Home Care for their compassionate care while Wayne was at home.
A celebration of life arrangements are pending and will be announced at a future date.
