Joyce McInnis
April 12, 1941 — October 16, 2024
JOYCE CAROLINE MCINNIS
With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce Caroline McInnis in Hospice at Glengarda, Saskatoon, on October 16, 2024 after a short battle with lung cancer.
Joyce was born in Humboldt, SK April 12, 1941. She is predeceased by her parents Herman Michel and Violet Newton, a son James (Jimmy) Parks at the tender age of one month, and her husbands James Parks, Al Wyman, and most recently in July 2020, Norm McInnis. She has left to mourn Norm’s daughter Brenda Rennie and family, as well as Cindy and Jim McClelland, Norm’s niece and her husband, and their family, in addition to the many friends she’s made over the years-you know who you are!
Joyce worked a few different jobs in her lifetime, but the final two were her favourite since she worked them together with her then husband Norm. Norm operated the first Sask. Sport Western Canadian Lottery kiosk in Lawson Heights and Joyce joined him there for several years. After retirement they were involved in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, both serving as Readers, amongst other things, and were very involved with the expansion of the Columbarium, Joyce in the office and Norm as a member of the Board.
Joyce was strong-willed and stubborn at times but she also had an enormous smile for everyone she encountered. She had close relationships and lots of love-filled laughter with all those she considered her friends, right up to the end. It also can’t go without saying that she believed EVERYTHING tasted better with ketchup, yes, even bacon, right to the end.
“God saw me getting tired.
He put his arms around me and whispered, “Come to me”
A smiling face at rest. No tears, just smiles
I’m at rest.”
The family would like to give special thanks to the hospital staff at St. Paul’s, RUH, and City hospitals, and Hospice at Glengarda for Joyce’s care over the last couple of months. Your tender loving care will not be forgotten.
An extra-special heartfelt thank you to Cindy and Jim McClelland who both willingly and tirelessly gave of their time and unquestionable love to both Joyce and Norm over the years.
A Celebration of Joyce’s Life and that of her husband Norm who passed during early COVID, will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024 beginning at 2:00 pm at Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338 4th Ave. North.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to Glengarda Hospice c/o St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation, Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, or another charity of your choice.
