Ivan Chovan
November 24, 1944 — December 7, 2024
Ivan Michael Chovan passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Glengarda Hospice in Saskatoon, surrounded by family.
Ivan was known for being a “jack of all trades”, skills that he picked up through his career starting in the RCAF and over the years as a service technician in both the dental industry and at the University of Saskatchewan. He loved being outdoors (especially on a boat trying to out catch his brother-in-laws), drinking strawberry milkshakes, watching Sci-Fi movies with a big bowl of popcorn, target practice and cheering on his beloved Hamilton Ticats (much to his family’s dismay). He took great pride in rooting for his grandchildren during their many adventures and helping his 3 children “MacGyver” their way through any problem that duck tape couldn’t fix.
He will be greatly missed by his loyal wife of 54 years, Gail; children, Michael (Karen), Mark (Tanya) and Niki; grandchildren, Ashley, Mason, Grady, Sadie and Ruby; sister Mary (Ken) and Niece and Nephew Kelly and Mike, as well as numerous extended family members whom he loved dearly. Ivan was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Mary.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Glengarda for their compassionate care of Ivan and his family during his final days.
Honouring Ivan’s wishes, there will be no service. His ashes are to be scattered at a later date at a spot meaningful to the whole family.
Memorial donations may be made to the Saskatchewan Aviation Historical Society, located in Saskatoon. saskaviation.ca/tribute-or-memorial-gifts/
